Performance Work Statement

Project Title: B185 Replace Condenser Water Pump at Cooling Tower NexGen Work Task #: 16473922

1. Objectives:

The Contractor shall replace the existing Condenser Pump #1 (CP-1) – the east-most pump and motor at the B185 comfort cooling water towers. The new pump and motor shall be identical in form, fit, and function to the existing pump and motor, and compatible with the existing tower sump & mounting configuration. The new pump may be single or 2-stage as long as all other requirements are met. The existing pump and motor must be replaced due to indications of major bearing issues. Additionally, the Contractor shall refurbish the existing pump that is removed, including shipping to and from the refurbishment location. The refurbished pump shall be stored on-Base as a spare.

2. Conditions:

The existing pump is a model 12KC HYF, S/N 23083 – a functionally-like replacement of Demming pump S/N DN40644-1 with model SD88-12 discharge head and 12L bowl assembly. The new pump must match the existing configuration of being a vertical turbine pump rated at 900 gpm at 75 TDH and 1800 rpm, with a discharge diameter of 8”, suction diameter 8”, and set length of approximately 79”.

Required pump accessories to be included in replacement scope include a packing box assembly, cast iron discharge head with factory coating, 416SS shaft, bronze impeller, 316SS basket strainer, and pump mounting plate.

The new pump motor shall be 25 hp, 460V, 3ph, approximately 30.43 Amp, 60 Hz, VHS, TEFC, 284 TPA frame, Premium Efficiency, continuous duty, insulation class F, safety factor 1.15, NRR grease, with 12” base diameter.

The existing tower sump is 8’ in length from the bottom of the sump to the top of the concrete where the discharge head rests. The new pump assembly must have the basket strainer no closer than 6” to the bottom of the sump.

3. Project Requirements:

• The Contractor shall visit site before starting any work to verify existing conditions space requirements in work areas.

• The Contractor shall remove the existing vertical turbine pump and motor, protecting it from additional damage during removal, and set it aside, available for future refurbishment.

• The Contractor shall deliver and install the new pump, motor, and accessory pieces in place of the existing one, including all mounting connections. Any crane used shall be subject to airfield crane height controls/permits and shall be capable of extending no taller than 150’.

• The Contractor shall install electrical and control connections to the new pump.

• The Contractor shall provide start up testing to prove satisfactory installation and capability of the new equipment.

• The Contractor shall provide at least a 1-year warranty on all labor and new materials.

• The Contractor shall clean up and dispose of all removed equipment and project waste from the replacements, as well as any trash generated from the work. Refuse shall be disposed of off-Base in accordance with Offutt AFB Environmental Special Conditions section 01 57 19.

• The Contractor shall refurbish the existing pump that is removed, in order to restore it to functional condition, including shipping to and from the refurbishment location. The refurbished pump shall be stored on-Base as a spare.

4. Other General Requirements:

The contractor shall furnish all material, labor, transportation, equipment, tools, services, expertise, supervision, and incidentals required to fulfill the requirements of this contract. No alterations, additions, or deletions shall be made unless by prior approval of the government Project Manager and the government Procuring Contract Officer (PCO). The work shall conform to the most current applicable State, AFI, ETL, NFPA, and Unified Facility Criteria Standards. Work shall be completed in a neat, substantial, and competent manner. All personnel shall abide by all industry safety standards, such as OSHA, and the Contractor shall provide all required PPE. The contractor shall perform quality assurance activities that conform to the quality assurance processes outlined in International organization of Standards (ISO) 9001, Quality Management Systems. The Contractor shall use PWS requirements.

The Contractor shall coordinate with the Government for needed system operation to allow the work and subsequent testing on the pump. The Contractor shall provide their own lock-out-tag-outs as needed.

During construction the Government will occupy the existing facilities. The contractor shall not restrict nearby pedestrian or vehicular traffic and shall coordinate with the Contracting Officer’s Representatives to facilitate usage. The Contracting Officer’s Representatives shall be notified not less than 15 calendar days in advance of any interruptions in building utilities / services, which will be described in writing.
