STATEMENT OF WORK
for
Building 3820, Porte Cochere Repairs
JBSF150112/65392
JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO – FORT SAM HOUSTON
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Date Prepared:
1 Sep 15
FA3047-15-T-0031
RPR PORTE COCHER, JBSA FORT SAM-HOUSTON, TX
Attachment 1: Statement of Work
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The objective of this Statement of Work (SOW) is for the procurement, fabrication and installation of damaged structural steel beams and trusses to the Porte Cochere, in Building 3820 on Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-SAM) in San Antonio, Texas.
Work includes field verification of sizes and dimensions to replace a steel beam W-Section replacement and light gage roof truss framing sections and fabricate and install a new steel frame Clearance Bar on the driveway, south approach to the Porte Cochere.
2. BACKGROUND:
Building 3820 located at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston was constructed in 2010.
The Porte Cochere at Building 3820 has a vertical clearance of approximately 11 feet, 4 inches after construction. A truck exceeding the vertical clearance hit the south end beam of the Porte Cochere causing permanent deflections to the W-Section structural beam which supports the brick veneer and the prefabricated metal roof trusses above the beam. On site measurements at the center of the beam were taken to determine the extent of the damage.
The top and bottom flanges of the beam were displaced laterally 3- 5/8 inches and 6 inches, on top and bottom of the steel beam, respectively. The impact also damaged several roof members above the beam, therefore affecting the ability to transfer the loads (including uplift) from the roof to the beam. A vertical clearance bar was not part of the original construction which is necessary for commercial trucks which can exceed the vertical distance to the bottom of the beam and brick veneer enclosure.
