About this file

This document is a Door Hardware specification (Section 08 71 00) for the DTRA Renovation of the 3rd Floor Building 13A at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The specification provides comprehensive details for door hardware installation, including requirements for hinges, locks, closers, kick plates, door stops, thresholds, and access control components. The hardware specifications are divided into nine distinct hardware sets covering various door types such as man traps, conference rooms, mechanical rooms, storage areas, and entry points, with each set specifying unique hardware configurations.

The specification emphasizes security and functionality, requiring specific hardware finishes (primarily satin stainless steel), complex keying systems compatible with the base's existing standards, and integration with electronic access control systems. Each hardware set includes multiple components like cam lift hinges, electric power transfers, fail-secure or exit locks, surface closers, kick plates, door stops, and STC (sound transmission class) gasketing. Notable security features include credential-based entry, relay-controlled door locking/unlocking sequences, position switches, card readers, and power supplies, with specific notes about maintaining security protocols and allowing key override access.
