About this file

This document is a bilingual (English and Spanish) recycling guide produced by Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling in Oregon, providing comprehensive instructions for residents on proper recycling, garbage, yard debris, and glass disposal. The guide details specific guidelines for recycling different materials including paper and cardboard, metal, plastic, yard debris, and glass, with clear categorizations for what can and cannot be placed in each bin. The document includes visual icons representing each category and provides contact information (WashingtonCountyRecycles.com and 503-846-3605) for residents seeking additional guidance on proper recycling practices.

The recycling guide serves as an educational tool for residents in Washington County, including cities like Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Forest Grove, offering nuanced instructions for waste management. It highlights special considerations such as motor oil disposal, yard debris limitations (branches less than 4 inches in diameter and 36 inches in length), and specific notes for residents within certain city limits about potentially including food scraps with yard debris. The guide also emphasizes the top 5 items to keep out of recycling bins, such as plastic bags, compostable serviceware, and electronic waste, directing residents to use their online "What to Recycle and Where?" tool or contact the county for proper disposal of prohibited items.
