About this file

The document is a bilingual (English and Spanish) recycling guide produced by Washington County, Oregon's Solid Waste & Recycling program, serving residents in unincorporated Washington County and multiple cities including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Tigard, and others. The guide provides comprehensive instructions for proper recycling, garbage disposal, yard debris management, and glass recycling, detailing specific items that can and cannot be placed in each category of waste bins. The recycling guide is designed to help residents understand how to correctly sort and dispose of various types of waste, with clear visual icons and categorized instructions for paper/cardboard, metal, plastic, yard debris, glass, and motor oil.

The recycling guide includes additional resources such as a "What to Recycle and Where?" tool accessible via WashingtonCountyRecycles.com/WTRW or by calling 503-846-3605, which helps residents determine the appropriate disposal method for items not clearly categorized. The guide emphasizes key items to keep out of recycling bins, including plastic bags, compostable serviceware, electronics, hazardous waste, and medical sharps. For residents in Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Forest Grove, the guide also notes the potential option of including food scraps with yard debris, contingent on verification with their specific service provider.
