About this file
This document is a technical specification section for Hollow Metal Doors issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) Facilities Bureau on June 13, 2016. The specification provides detailed requirements for fire-rated and non-rated rolled steel flush doors, frames, and associated glazing for a construction or renovation project. It outlines acceptable manufacturers including Amweld Building Products, Benchmark, Ceco Door Products, Curries Company, and Steelcraft, with provisions for submitting equal alternatives for approval.
The specification covers technical details for exterior and interior doors, including gauge specifications, core types, fabrication requirements, and finish characteristics. Exterior doors are specified as 16-gauge galvanized with rain caps, while interior doors are 18-gauge flush panel. Door cores vary between mineral fiberboard for fire-rated doors and various materials for non-rated doors. The finish will be a manufacturer's standard baked-on primer in "Dark Bronze" color, with color samples required for approval. Installation requirements include precise alignment, anchoring, and compliance with specific industry standards such as SDI-105 and DHI guidelines.
