UT FTNP ARCH 10(2)

January 9, 2017

1. I do not see any typical sections in the drawings that show the thickness of HMA or CIR. Am I missing seeing them or are they not included? I see a typical for the roundabouts but nothing else.

A: The typical sections for HMA and CIR are located on sheet on sheets A6 through

A20.

2. Is there a waste disposal area on the project for the material that is remove from the Sub

Excavation areas, or with it need to be hauled off site?

A: Hauled off site.

3. Sheet 211-A of the plans state that the boulders for the obliterate road item will be provided from a local source. Is this a source that is provided or will the contractor have to find a local source?

A: The contractor will need to find a local source. No source is available in the Park.

4. Truck turn around areas are very few and far between along the main entrance road. Would it be possible for us to create a couple of truck turn arounds as long as they are scarified and re seeded?

A: Truck turn around locations may be discussed after award with the CO.

5. For the asphalt curb, can a 58-28 oil be used in place of the 64-72 oil due to the stiffness of the mix?

A: Asphalt curb is considered a 609 item which references section 404 Minor Hot

Asphalt Concrete of the FP and the SCRs. The job mix according to section 404 may conform to meet a State of Federal mix specifications.

6. The specifications in section 624.04 state that topsoil will be placed at a depth of 3-4 inches. The line item and summary show a depth of 6 inches. Which is correct?

A: 6 inches. SCRs will be updated.

7. On plan sheet C-21 Devil’s Garden Loop Road, there is a statement that refers to a 3R

Construction, (suspend and resume 3R Construction) What is the 3R Construction referring to?

Confusing because the typical section shows the 14’ pulverizing going the full length of the loop.

UT FTNP ARCH 10(2)

January 9, 2017 A: The Park completed widening and paving of the parking area between Station

978+70 and 989+39. Through that section no pulverization should take place only a

Fog Seal coat in that section. All other areas of Devil’s Garden will be pulverized as shown on the plan sheet including the parking areas outside the 14’ width of the typical section.

8. Placing conserved topsoil is not permanent stabilization per SWPPP requirements. Will seeding be required on this project? If not, what will be the final stabilization requirements?

A: The Park will be providing the revegetation.

9. Are the A & B schedules to be inclusive in Schedule C work? If so, there seems to be some errors in the quantities for Schedule C.

A: Yes, the bid schedule will be amended to reflect the quantity errors.

10. Why have language that requires 2 non-work days out of every 14 calendar days when no weekend work is allowed?

A: This is Standard SCR language.

11. Will work that does not impede traffic be allowed on weekends?

A: This will need to be discussed after award with the CO. For bidding purposes, assume no work will be allowed on the weekends.

12. I just noticed that the bid quantity for 18” Culvert in schedule A is 30 LF., but in schedules B & C, it is 26 LF. Can you clarify if that is correct? There is only the one culvert, I have to assume that they should be the same in all three bid schedules.

A: It should be 30 LF and will be amended.
