About this file
This is a Combined Specifications document for VA Project 657-26-105, "Upgrade Interior Physical Security," which outlines comprehensive technical requirements for implementing a key control upgrade system at a Department of Veterans Affairs facility.
The project requires installation of interior physical security improvements including door hardware, electrical systems, communications infrastructure, and electronic safety and security systems. Key specifications include: procurement and installation of mortise and cylindrical locksets with removable core technology compatible with a Great Grandmaster Key System (Corbin Russwin 62A1 large format interchangeable cores or equivalent); electrical installations per NFPA 70 and 70E standards with 600V and below power conductors; comprehensive raceway and conduit systems (rigid steel, IMC, EMT, PVC); communications cabling infrastructure per TIA standards; and integrated electronic security systems including physical access control (PACS), intrusion detection systems (IDS), video surveillance, emergency communication systems, and intercom capabilities. The work encompasses full design, installation, testing, and commissioning with detailed submittal requirements for shop drawings, product data, equipment schedules (door, camera, DGP loading sheets), as-built documentation, maintenance manuals, and system testing procedures. Critical operational requirements include 24/7 facility occupancy coordination, minimal service interruption, fire and life safety compliance (NFPA 101), infection control risk mitigation, dust control with HEPA filtration, tuberculosis screening for workers, and comprehensive warranty coverage with one-year maintenance and quarterly inspections post-acceptance. The contractor must provide qualified personnel including BICSI-certified installers, factory-trained technicians, and a registered communications distribution designer (RCDD) oversight.
