About this file
This is a Bid Bond template document prepared by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, for use in conjunction with the Armored Collection Services contract opportunity. The bond serves as a guarantee that bidders submitting proposals will enter into a formal contract with the City if awarded and will provide the required performance bond upon notification of award. Bidders must submit either a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond equal to five percent (5%) of their bid amount along with their proposal submission. Upon award notification, the successful bidder has ten consecutive calendar days, or such longer period as agreed to by the City, to execute the written contract and furnish a performance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the bid.
The bid bond obligates both the principal (bidder) and the surety (bonding company) to pay liquidated damages to the City if the principal fails to enter into the contract or provide the required performance bond within the specified timeframe. The surety must be represented by an Attorney-in-Fact with valid Florida licensure, and a copy of the power of attorney attested by the surety's corporate secretary must accompany the executed bond. The principal must also execute the bond with appropriate attestation, either through corporate seal or two witness signatures, depending on whether the principal entity maintains a seal.
