About this file

This is a Bid Bond template document issued by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida for use in competitive bidding processes. The bond serves as a guarantee that a bidder will execute a contract and provide required performance security if awarded a project. The bid bond requires submission with the bid proposal and must be in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid value. The Principal must enter into a written contract with the City within ten (10) consecutive calendar days after written notice of award, or such longer period as mutually agreed upon. Upon contract execution, the Principal must furnish a performance bond or alternate form of security approved by applicable law in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the bid amount.

The bond obligates both the Principal and Surety jointly and severally to pay the City the full bid bond amount as liquidated damages if the Principal fails to execute the contract and provide the required performance security within the specified timeframe. The Surety must provide a copy of a power of attorney attested by the corporate secretary evidencing that the Attorney-in-Fact executing the bond is duly authorized. The Principal must either affix its corporate seal with attestation by an authorized representative or provide two witness signatures, depending on whether the Principal maintains a corporate seal. This standardized bond template establishes the conditions under which the City may claim the bid security as compensation for the bidder's failure to perform contractual obligations.
