About this file

This is a Bid Bond template document from the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, establishing the requirements and conditions for bid security submission in connection with competitive bidding for city contracts. The document outlines that bidders must submit either a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of their bid as a guarantee of good faith. Upon bid acceptance and award, the Principal is required to enter into a written contract with the City within ten (10) consecutive calendar days of written notice of award and furnish a performance bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the bid amount. The bond becomes void upon successful fulfillment of these conditions. For the Flow Monitor Maintenance Program, bidders seeking to provide parts, maintenance, repairs, and services for thirty (30) Triton+ flow monitors and twenty (20) rain gauges must comply with these bid bond requirements.

The bid bond document specifies that the Surety must provide a copy of a power of attorney attested by the corporate secretary evidencing authorization of the Attorney-in-Fact to execute the bond on behalf of the Surety. The Principal must execute the bond through either a corporate seal or two witness signatures, as applicable. The bond conditions establish that failure to execute the contract and furnish the required performance bond within the specified timeframe results in the bid bond amount being due to the City as liquidated damages. This template was last updated in September 2020 and serves as the standard bid security instrument for the City of St. Petersburg's procurement process.
