About this file
This file is a specification document for hollow metal doors and frames, aluminum frames, and flush wood doors that are part of the final construction documents for the Whiteriver Hospital project for the Indian Health Service.
The document contains detailed specifications for interior and exterior hollow metal doors and frames manufactured to ANSI/SDI standards at Level 3 (Extra-Heavy-Duty). Interior doors feature 1-3/4-inch thickness with metallic-coated steel sheet faces and vertical steel stiffeners or mineral board cores for fire-rated units. Exterior doors use polyisocyanurate core with metallic-coated steel sheet faces and A60 minimum coating for corrosion resistance. All doors require factory preparation for hardware installation, glazing, and electrical systems. Fire-rated assemblies must comply with NFPA 80 standards with testing per NFPA 252 or UL 10C, and smoke-and draft-control doors must meet UL 1784 requirements. Frame anchors use minimum 3/8-inch diameter bolts with expansion shields, positioned at minimum three per jamb with additional anchors for frames exceeding 7 feet in height.
The specifications also cover aluminum door frames and glazing frames fabricated from extruded aluminum with clear-anodized finishes, designed for fire-rated openings complying with NFPA 80, and flush wood doors with solid cores and plastic-laminate faces. All materials require environmental product declarations and sustainable design documentation including recycled content verification and material ingredient documentation. Installation requirements mandate plumb and rigid positioning with tolerances of plus or minus 1/16 inch for squareness, alignment, and plumbness, along with field quality control inspections by qualified fire-rated door assembly inspectors certified by the Door and Hardware Institute. The project was prepared by SmithGroup with structural engineering by PK Associates, civil engineering by Dibble & Associates, and various specialized engineers for fire protection, electrical, communications, landscape, and environmental systems.
