About this file

The document is a comprehensive tow zone specification sheet for Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Troop H service areas, detailing towing service requirements across multiple service points including Framingham, Foxboro, Boston, South Boston, Milton, Weston, and the Ted Williams Tunnel. The document outlines two primary tow zone categories (Category I and Category II) for each service point, specifying geographic zones, towns/cities covered, and equipment requirements. Each service point requires a full complement of towing equipment per section 6.2.1 (Category I) or 6.3.1 (Category II), with zones typically defined by specific highway segments, exits, and local road networks.

Special considerations are noted for each service point, including high-volume traffic roadways, DCR roadway maintenance, seasonal venues, tunnel and bridge access, and unique operational constraints such as MassDOT Incident Response Operators (IRO) protocols. For example, the Ted Williams Tunnel location has specific requirements around quick vehicle clearance, tunnel height limitations, MBTA vehicle handling, and immediate removal of disabled vehicles in travel lanes. The document appears to be part of a comprehensive towing service procurement process, providing detailed operational guidelines for potential service providers across complex urban and highway environments in the greater Boston metropolitan area.
