About this file
This document is a Request for Tow Operator Training Waiver form issued by the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) for tow service providers seeking to utilize drivers without formal tow operator training. The form allows tow service providers to request a training waiver for individual drivers by certifying that the driver has completed specific training requirements, including Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Training, eight hours of on-the-job training with at least five loading/unloading procedures, and having a trainer with a current valid training certificate.
The waiver process involves two potential categories: drivers with no formal tow operator training who comply with specified requirements, or drivers with expired tow operator training. The form requires certification by a company owner/officer/principal/partner and specifies that the Massachusetts State Police must approve the waiver before the driver can provide services. The waiver is initially valid for 90 days, with the possibility of up to two extension waivers granted under special circumstances. The form also allows for waiver requests related to Category I and II Tow Training, OSHA 10 Hour Training, Hoisting License, and Rotator Training.
