Project Background The Meacham Maintenance Station building was constructed in 2021. Approximate building dimensions are 358’ x 95’. Roof is constructed with pan decking, ridged foam, plywood, and a MS-200 Taylor metal’s standing seam metal roof at a 2/12 pitch. After going through a couple of winters it has been decided to install snow guard up on the roof deck to avoid snow siding off on to employees, equipment, etc. The maintenance station building roof was designed and engineered to support the 70 psf Meacham snow loads.
Project Description:
Project will design, purchase, and install S-5 snow retention system or approved equal. Some pre-design work has been done using S-5’s online calculator and load tables. S-5 ran calculations for this Meacham maintenance station roof and calculations came back showing only one row of snow guard is required. ODOT has decided to install (2) rows as the Meacham area has the possibility of getting large amounts of wet heavy snow. (See attached project calculations and roof plan layout).
