About this file
This is an attachment outlining environmentally benign maintenance requirements for grounds maintenance operations at USAG Wiesbaden. The document establishes strict prohibitions and procedures for weed and pest control during grounds maintenance activities.
Herbicide use on pavements is completely prohibited. Weed treatment must be performed exclusively through mechanical methods, such as weed eaters or steel/plastic brushes in accordance with industry standards, or physical treatment using hot water systems such as 'Heatweed' or equivalent equipment, with water temperatures maintained between 98 and 99.6 degrees Celsius during application. For pest control, any observations of animal pests must be reported immediately, with particular emphasis on Oak Processionary Caterpillars (OPC), which require written notification to the Contracting Officer's Representative no later than the following day. Pest occurrence reports must include the building location, a photograph of the occurrence, and the associated tree number, or if the tree number is not readily identifiable, the nearest available tree numbers with appropriate notation.
