1.4 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
1.4.1 Project Description
The project consists of two separate construction phases. In Phase 1 of the project, widening the spillway right abutment and realigning the Avenue 146 is estimated to be completed in June 2021. The construction work contemplated herewith is Phase 2 of the project. There might be an overlapping of the Phase 1 and the Phase 2 construction. Coordination for the use of facilities will need to be addressed with the Phase 1 Contractor.
Phase 2 comprises (1) the remaining spillway excavation widening; (2) construction of an ogee weir, including the apron and abutment training walls; (3) main dam left abutment seepage berm and drain trench; (4) relocation of the Rocky Hill pumphouse; (5) providing erosion protection along the lake side of Avenue 146; (6) construct a spillway access road;
(7) construct a high pool boat ramp and parking lot; (8) Frazier Dike erosion slope protection; (9) flood mitigation or relocation of several recreation facilities and utilities at Tule Recreation Area; and (10) implementing erosion control measures for California State Highway 190 bridge abutments.
Demolition involves removal of the old existing Avenue 146 roadway, Tule Recreation Area restroom, Rocky Hill Pumphouse, Tule Recreation lift station, and spillway concrete sill. Controlled blasting will be required to construct the ogee weir, apron, and training walls. Temporary excavation slopes will be conducted by the Contractor to meet all Federal and State safety requirements. Slope stabilization will be as directed upon excavated conditions.
There is a total of three designated staging and stockpile areas that may be utilized during construction. There will be no public access on Avenue 146 during the construction of this project.
1.4.2 Location
The work is located within Tulare County, California. The specific location is as indicated.
