About this file

This specification document outlines the State of New Hampshire's requirements for a heavy-duty galvanized enclosed service body with a 29-foot telescopic non-insulated aerial lift mounted on a Ford F-450 Dual Rear Wheel Chassis. The service body must be constructed from galvanized sheet steel with compartments featuring a minimum 20-inch depth, adjustable trays rated for 250 pounds, and keyed-alike locks across all compartment doors. The aerial lift specifications include a stowed height of 10 feet 3 inches with a minimum working height of 34 feet and minimum side reach of 20 feet 9 inches, powered by a PTO-driven hydraulic pump rated at minimum 2 gallons per minute with 2,100 psi operating pressure. The vehicle must include a 360-degree boom rotation capability, full emergency power systems, and comprehensive safety features including counter balance holding valves and a 3:1 structural safety factor. Preferred manufacturers include Reading for the service body, and Versa-Lift VANTEL-29, Dur-A-Lift DVS-29, and UTEM UVN35A for the aerial lift units, though equivalent models meeting or exceeding specifications require prior approval from the Bureau of Mechanical Services and Purchase & Property.

The specification requires vendors to be established with service and repair facilities within a 45-mile radius of Concord, New Hampshire. The service body includes a six-year limited warranty covering rust-through, door hinges, latches, locks, and shelves under maximum load, while the aerial lift unit carries a two-year no-cost warranty from the truck's in-service date. Vendors must supply two complete sets of operator, repair, and parts manuals along with Material Safety Data Sheets for all construction and coating materials. Additionally, vendors shall provide no-cost training on maintenance and operation of the aerial lift features at a date and time determined by the State, and a no-cost OSHA inspection is required at six months and approximately eleven months after the truck enters service. All equipment shall use lead-free white paint, and the underside of the service body must receive LINE-X or equivalent protective coating.
