About this file
This is an Answers to Questions document for the CTF FCF Grease Interceptor IFB1 project in Colorado, providing clarifications on contractor responsibilities and project scope. The document addresses seven key inquiries regarding the grease interceptor removal and installation work. Contaminated material will be managed on-site rather than requiring off-site disposal. The contractor bears responsibility for pumping tanks prior to disposal and verifying elevations before grease interceptor removal and installation. Service interruption beyond the standard 24-hour timeframe is not permissible; however, the facility will consider contractor proposals for phased installation with a pumping scheme to accommodate an additional 24 hours of downtime. Concrete replacement has been designated as an Add Alternate bid item rather than incidental work, while stairs and handrails shown on the plans comprise the base bid.
Regarding stair work, replacement is classified as incidental to the project, with stairs on the south end requiring replacement in the new configuration shown on plans and stairs on the west side requiring no replacement if removed. The contractor is permitted to leave crane equipment set up overnight within the facility rather than removing it daily, reducing mobilization costs and project duration. These clarifications establish the scope boundaries between base bid work, alternate items, and incidental responsibilities, while defining operational constraints and flexibility provisions for the grease interceptor replacement project.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
EMP26-002
FCF Grease Interceptor
Questions:
1. Will the contaminated material need to be disposed of off site?
No.
2. Is it the contractor’s responsibility to pump the tanks prior to disposal?
Yes.
3. Is it the contractor’s responsibility to verify elevations prior to GI removal and installation?
4. Is it possible for a service interruption beyond the 24hr time limit?
No. Facility would, however, consider a contractor plan involving a partial volume install with pumping scheme to gain an additional 24 hours before return of full system to service.
5. Is the concrete replacement incidental to the project?
The proposed new concrete slab has been changed to an Add Alternate bid item. Stairs and handrail shown on the plans are part of the base bid.
6. Is the stair replacement incidental to the project if required for removal? Please verify which set of stairs can be removed and not replaced.
Stair replacement is considered incidental to the project. The stairs on the south end of work area will have to be replaced in new configuration as shown on plans. Stairs on west side do not require replacement, if removed.
7. Can we leave the crane set up overnight inside the facility, or does it need to be taken down and removed each night?
