About this file
This is a product data sheet for Castrol Hysol MB 50, a high-performance soluble metalworking fluid. The product is formulated without chlorine or formaldehyde-releasing agents and is designed for machining ferrous and aluminum alloys in applications including grinding, milling, turning, drilling, reaming, tapping, and broaching. The fluid is suitable for both large central systems and single sump machines and offers advantages including fungal and bacterial resistance to extend fluid life, low foam characteristics, good anti-corrosion properties, advanced lubricity compounds for improved tool life, and excellent wetting properties that reduce coolant drag-out and machine downtime.
The product specifications indicate a concentrate appearance of amber with 50 percent mineral oil content by weight. The emulsion appears milky with a pH of 9.7 and a refractometer factor of 1.0. Recommended concentrations vary by application, ranging from 5-7 percent for grinding to 8-10 percent for broaching, with water hardness maintained at 100-600 ppm CaCO3. The additive package includes EP-Ester and Amines but excludes boron, formaldehyde-releasing agents, and chlorine to comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The product data sheet is dated June 4, 2019, and technical inquiries can be directed to Castrol (UK) Limited at the contact information provided.
