About this file
This document outlines requirements for the overhaul of a rudder stock under a federal contract. The contractor will receive a rudder stock from the government and conduct an inspection to determine its condition and any repair work needed to return it to serviceable status. The contractor must then dimensionally inspect the rudder stock, conduct non-destructive testing, and preserve all unpainted steel surfaces. The overhauled rudder stock will undergo quality assurance inspections to verify dimensions, surface texture, welds, paint thickness, and other attributes. Once repaired, the rudder stock must be packed, marked, and shipped according to specifications to the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, Maryland within 200 calendar days of authorization to proceed with repairs.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of Homeland Security Coast Guard for the overhaul and manufacture of propulsion shafts and overhaul of rudders. Contractors will be required to inspect, test, repair and preserve these marine components to specifications before shipping them back to the Coast Guard.

The CFR shall also include a breakdown of estimated cost of labor and materials for any overhaul work that is beyond the scope of work in this specification. No further work shall proceed until authorized by the KO. The contractor shall provide a Final Inspection Report within two hundred calendar days from authorization to proceed with repairs from the KO.
3.2.1 Dimensional inspection. Dimensionally inspect the rudder stock for the following:
