About this file
This is a technical drawing and project specification document for Crane No. 64 improvements at Building 114, Naval Station Newport, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, Rhode Island.
The project involves removing one existing 6,000-pound capacity bridge crane and replacing it with two new 3-ton overhead electric traveling (OET) bridge cranes equipped with anti-collision systems. The work includes reconfiguring existing crane rails, supporting structures, and electrical systems to accommodate the new crane installation. Key technical requirements include: the new cranes shall maintain a minimum distance of 2(μm)+A between them; bridge cranes must be equipped with anti-collision sensor safety systems; a 460V panelboard ("MCP-2") must be installed in Room 112 for new crane power connections; new electrical service connections are required from the busduct mounted ceiling with appropriate breakers and safety switches; and all structural steel work must conform to AISC Steel Construction Manual standards with AWS D1.1 structural welding code compliance. The existing crane rail system, supporting W12+ rail beams, and conductor system shall be evaluated for reuse or replaced to accommodate the new bridge crane system. All field welds require inspection by certified welders, and work must be performed in accordance with NFAC Instruction 11250.1F for crane installation and testing. The project includes detailed drawings showing existing conditions, new crane installations, crane position limits, travel limits for both north and south ends, and photographic documentation of current site conditions.
