Questions from September 8th Site Visit:
1) Q. What will the contractor do with unsuitable materials?
A. Rocks larger than 6” will be stockpiled and removed from the site. Unsuitable earthfill will be spread onsite at a location approved by the engineer.
2) Q. Will the rocks have to be removed from the land smoothing areas?
A. The rocks in the land smoothing area will be pushed in to the adjacent ditch with other spoil material and will not have to be removed.
3) Q. Will additional material be available for land smoothing?
A. The land smoothing will consist of pushing adjacent spoil back into the ditches. Hauling of additional fill will not be needed in these areas and we anticipate there will not be enough fill to completely fill the ditches. The Contractor will grade them to blend with existing topography.
4) Q. Will the dike on the east side along the existing reservoir be accessible to the contractor?
A. No this is not an available access road for the contractor.
5) Q. What to do with the vegetation after clearing and grubbing for the land smoothing?
A. The vegetative material will be stripped from the land smoothing areas and stockpiled, the areas will be smoothed and the stripped vegetation will be spread on top.
6) Q. Please clarify removal of exotics in the design?
A. The removal of exotics will only be required in the construction area. This has recently been updated in the specifications to focus efforts on eliminating or reducing the spread of invasive plants and does not necessarily require the treatment of all invasive plants in the construction area.
