Hoist Removal Project Umatilla National Forest
Project Description
Project includes
1. Demolition of 1960-era vehicle hoist: Work includes removal and disposal of all metal hoist items, including but not limited to, chains, cylinders, guide rails and other attachments and controls.
2. Work also includes removal of hydraulic fluid collection reservoir and containment culvert (est. 175 gal capacity).
3. Contractor shall install one air fitting and connecting plumbing (Government Furnished Material) prior to closure of pit.
4. Re-establish Concrete floor: Contractor shall close up pit and other floor depressions associated with hoist removal. Finished concrete floor shall match existing shop floor elevation. Neatline saw cuts required to make a uniform patch. Fill in access pit (estimated 2 ft wide x 13 long ft x 8 ft deep) with common borrow material and minimum of 8 inches of crushed aggregate on top. Moisten and compact fill material in maximum layers of 6 inches until no visible deflection observed.
5. Provide all labor and materials to form up and pour 8 inch concrete slab with rebar reinforcement (a 12” x 12” grid full length of pit) to complete pit closure.
Potable water and electricity are available on site.
Work Restrictions: Government employees will be working in the building. Compound is locked from 6 pm to 6 am each evening. Work hours limited to 6:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Project Location
Directions from Pendleton: From I-84 Exit 210 (near Red Lion Motel) proceed north on Hwy 11 to stop light at Court Street. Proceed ahead through the stop light; onto Court Place; road curves slightly to the rightt. Proceed two block to 12th Street; turn left and proceed ahead one block to Byers Street. Turn right onto Byers; proceed ahead past Washington Elementary School. Umatilla National Forest Warehouse Compound is first left past the school yard. Note: Compound is gated and locked weekends and after 6 pm on weekdays.
