INRC Solicitation Questions
RFI # Question Response
126 Is any 3rd party engineering required for the rain screen, (Knight Wall System) for Phase I? It is not shown in the specifications.
No 3rd party engineering is required by Architect. Manufacturer to fully provide engineered product/system.
127 Can you please clarify where the connection point of the fiber optics would be? The drawings only show a line for the fiber optics, but no connection point. Are we bringing the fiber from the building and terminate at point shown in the drawings? Does the GC need to provide a vault at connection point?
See sheet E1.1. Communications conduit runs from the north side of the site into the Tel/Com 202 telephone terminal board. Fiber by communications utility. Conduit for future fiber runs from the Tel/Com 202 room to the vault on the east side of the building. This conduit route is for future fiber in another phase. The power and communications vault is the contractors responsibility.
128 Structural Drawings S0.1 under Structural Steel notes, note #2 states that the steel fabricator be AWS and AISC certified.
There are very limited steel shops in the area with such certifications, and most of them are not bidding this project. Can we use a 3 rd party welding inspector in lieu of the AWS certification?
Provide AWS or AISC certified steel fabricator, no 3rd party welding inspector permitted.
129 We were informed by one of the pre-engineered metal building manufacture about an issue with the overhangs on both
Phase I & II, and the clearance shown on the drawings (13’-0” clearance). Since the overhang beams are part of the structure of the building, by the time it extends to achieve the required overhang, the clearance form finished floor to bottom of beam would be around 11.5’ clear. This would interfere with the 12’ tall O.H. doors on both phases. Per the manufacturer the recommended solution is to raise the eave heights 1’-6” for both building parts. This would provide a
13’-0” height clearance under the soffit panels, and it would not change the roof slope. This can be achieved with minimal cost impact.
12' high doors and 13' soffits are a must. Manufacturer is allowed to adjust design per these requirements. This issue can be resolved during shop drawings and submittals based on who is awarded the contract. Avoid clear height situations less than the 12 ft required for the O.H. doors.
130 I am getting conflicting drawings and specifications for the following: Line Post size (typically line post are 1-7/8"), Corner
Post size (2-3/8). Detail 10/C9.5 does not show a post size.
Corner Posts and Panel posts shall be 3.5" dia.; Line Posts shall be 1 7/8"
131 Two different styles of Mesh are shown on page C9.5; which one is required? 2 3/8" woven wire mesh (diagonal chain link)
132 Clarify interior room mesh and line post requirements for 5/A6.19 2 3/8" woven wire mesh (diagonal chain link); please match what is used at exterior fence.
133 Please confirm that all Exterior Wall Type B, shown in locations on 7/A2.0 are to be a continuous, full height stud per the wall types, and will attach to a structural member.
Yes, confirmed.
Please confirm where metal framed walls are shown in the same location as Metal building system, these are to be furred walls, inset from the metal building system. There will be no in-filling between Z-girts at these locations.
Yes, refer to details 4/A2.0 and 8/A2.0.
135 Where phase 1 will transition to phase 2, detail 9/A5.0, the metal framing is shown partially inset from the Z-girt system and being framed through the Z-girt system. Please confirm that this wall will terminate at blocking or similar form of solid connection, at the underside of the z-girt.
Yes, confirmed. This wall will stop and form a solid connection
136 In a previous addendum, it was listed to follow exterior wall type B for insulation thickness at exterior walls. R-25 is listed to be roughly 8” thick. This is too large for a 6” stud cavity. Too much compression will result in lowered R-values. Please advise on correct insulation at exterior wall type B
Please provide R-21 cavity insulation in lieu of R-25 at Exterior Wall Type A &
B.
137 Please clarify model # for projector used a Basis of Design. Clarification: Basis of Design for projector, model #: PT-RZ570 (not PT-RZ575 as listed in docuemnts)
