About this file

This is an Asbestos Inspection Report for Building HP53 (a Barracks/Enlisted Quarters facility) located at MCB Camp Lejeune, dated May 19, 2021. The building was constructed in 1976 and received a hazard ranking of 0/BLUE with no asbestos-containing materials (ACM) identified during the initial inspection. The report states that no further action is required.

The inspection documented 13 categories of tested non-ACM or removed materials across the building, including exterior surfacing material (stucco), textured ceiling material, miscellaneous sealants, plaster ceilings, drywall, floor tiles and adhesives, base cove/mastic, ceiling tiles, roofing material, window caulking, and duct sealants. All samples were collected on March 29, 2006, and laboratory analysis results show zero percent chromium, amosite, and other asbestos compounds across all 26 samples tested. Health and safety guidance provided indicates that ACM only presents a health hazard when fibers are airborne and inhaled, and building occupants are instructed to avoid disturbing materials and to report any damage to the Camp Lejeune Asbestos Program Manager at (910) 451-5837. The facility maintains periodic inspections to evaluate material condition changes, with the complete survey maintained on file by the Camp Lejeune Asbestos Program Manager.
