About this file

This document is a technical specification section (02231) for Clearing and Grubbing work. The section details requirements for preparing a construction site by removing vegetation, trees, stumps, roots, and other surface debris. Key specifications include: clearing involves felling and cutting trees and surface vegetation into sections for disposal, while grubbing involves removing below-surface stumps and roots larger than 3 inches in diameter. The project prohibits burning of slash and requires protecting existing vegetation outside the work limits from damage. No salvage is anticipated, and any cleared brush or limbs may be scattered in surrounding vegetated areas. The work will be considered incidental to the overall contract and will not be separately measured or directly paid, with costs to be included in other bid line items.
