About this file

This document is a technical specification section for welded steel cattle guards to be installed on a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) road intersecting with US Highway 50. The specification requires two 8ft x 10ft steel grid sections for a total 20 ft cattle guard, manufactured by Big R Manufacturing, with HS-20 loading capacity and painted yellow to BLM specifications. The contractor must remove the existing cattle guard, install new concrete bases and wings, ensure proper road grading, and maintain site drainage.

The installation includes securely bolting grid sections to bases, attaching end wings to the grid and adjacent fencing, and conforming to related sections for clearing, backfilling, and fencing. Payment will be made on a per-unit basis for a complete cattle guard with bases and wings, with the bid unit being "Each". The project requires careful traffic management, with provisions for maintaining resident access through a side gate during installation.
