About this file

This document is a specification for inventory tags for equipment located in Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facilities. The tags must be pre-numbered, self-adhesive vinyl/PVC foil laser printable labels, specifically Avery Zweckform L7912-10 or equivalent, measuring 2.75 inches by 1 inch in dimension. Tags shall feature a blue background with white lettering and numbers, be water resistant or waterproof, oil resistant, and either laminated or UV resistant to prevent fading or washing off. The tag format consists of a 3-letter facility code followed by 6 numbers, with text and letters comprising at least 50 percent of the label size (30 percent minimum if a barcode or QR code is included).

Tags must be permanently affixed to equipment in locations visible without moving the item, preferably adjacent to the DeCA barcode label and data plate. For refrigeration cases and items in sales areas, tags shall be affixed inside the case or on the side to remain invisible to customers. Tags shall not display contractor names, logos, or contact information. Existing vinyl inventory tags need not be replaced unless unreadable or missing at contract performance commencement. The document includes a visual example of the tag format showing "BUD123456" as a reference designation.
