About this file

This document is a specification for inventory tags to be used for equipment located in DeCA (Defense Commissary Agency) facilities. The tags must be pre-numbered vinyl/PVC foil laser printable labels, specifically Avery Zweckform L7912-10 or equivalent, with self-adhesive properties that are water resistant, waterproof, oil resistant, and fade-resistant. The tags shall feature a blue background with white lettering and measure approximately 2.75 inches (7 cm) wide by 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall.

The tag format consists of a three-letter facility code followed by six numbers, with text and letters comprising at least 50 percent of the label size unless a barcode or QR code is included, in which case text must not be smaller than 30 percent of the overall label size. Tags must not contain contractor names, logos, or contact information and shall be permanently affixed to equipment in visible locations whenever possible, positioned next to the DeCA barcode label and data plate. For refrigeration cases and items in sales areas, tags must be affixed inside or on non-visible sides. Existing vinyl inventory tags shall remain in place and only be replaced if unreadable or missing at the start of contract performance.
