FION OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM UPGRADE AND VIDEO DISTRIBUTION ROUTER ADDITIONS
PHASE 4
Addendum 2 - Page 20 groups for connected entities to improve network reliability, redundancy, and overall operations.
3.3.1.7 Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Multiprotocol Extensions for
BGP (MBGP)
Currently, the FDOT connects to District and other Partners’ ITS networks via a /30 IP address pair in most cases, and uses static routes configured on both sides. The FDOT desires to migrate to a BGP/MBGP route distribution technology to exchange route information with connected entities where external BGP route distribution is supported by the connected entity. The use of BGP/MBGP will help ensure that Reverse Path Forwarding (RPF) checks pass.
The Vendor may augment the OSPF dynamic routing protocol with internal BGP (iBGP) or Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS) for distribution of internal FION routes and MPLS Label Switched Paths (LSPs).
The Vendor shall configure the equipment for route distribution with connected entities via static routes for IPv4 routes and MBGP for multicast group addresses.
3.3.1.8 Static mroutes or multicast VPRN
At the time this RFP was developed, Districts 5 and 7 RTMCs are unable to support MBGP for multicast route distribution to/from the FION. Therefore, these connected entities will rely solely on static mroutes and MSDP peering for sharing their multicast video streams. This limitation shall be accounted for by the Vendor in developing equipment configurations on the 7250 IXR-R6 devices in the network.
3.3.1.9 Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS)
The FDOT’s FION system has a multi-node 10 Gb/s Ethernet ring network in the Tallahassee area comprised of Extreme Networks’ Shortest Path Bridging (SPB) equipment. The 7250 IXR-R6 MPLS network will be extended into the Tallahassee ring to deliver multicast video and other data and services. Certain nodes of this ring will replace the Extreme Network’s ISIS switches with Nokia 7250 IXR-R6 Interconnect Routers. Additionally, the recently upgraded optical portion of the network utilizes IS-IS as an underlying interior gateway protocol (IGP). The primary protocol to communicate with these network nodes shall be via OSPF routing, IS-IS and internal BGP as required. The FDOT will reconfigure remaining Extreme Network switches at the Burns Building for Layer 2 operation.
Addendum 2 - Page 21
3.3.1.10 Network Time Protocol
The network time protocol (NTP) shall be implemented for network time synchronization. The Vendor shall utilize the FDOT’s existing NTP server.
3.4 Integration with Optical Transport and other Equipment
3.4.1 Standardized Port descriptions
The Vendor shall follow a standardized description to label all ports that are configured to have connections to other equipment. All ports connected to another device shall include “to/from {device}” in the description, where {device} is the name of the far-end 7250 IXR-R6 device for the particular link or connected Partner’s device (e.g., to/from I-4/I-75 Master Hub, or to/from District 6 ITS).
3.4.2 Routed-Virtual Private LAN Service (R-VPLS) and Internet Enhanced Service
(IES)
The Vendor shall define the Routed-Virtual Private LAN Service (R-VPLS) and Internet Enhanced Service (IES) service-id 14080, under Customer 1, with the name site-mgmt and description Site-Mgmt. This service will support interfaces to all the managed equipment and the interface to the existing FION MPLS network.
The Vendor shall define a dedicated technician port with R-VPLS IES service-id 34080, under Customer 1, with name network-mgmt and description Network-Mgmt.
The Vendor shall define Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on the port with a pool of IP addresses on each node as specified in the Network Interface Parameters workbook.
3.4.3 Multicast Virtual Private Routed Network (M-VPRN)
Four nodes on the upgraded network will need to participate in the FION’s M-VPRN service for ingesting multicast video and other data. These node locations are Milton, Chipley, Tallahassee Public Safety Complex, and Turkey Lake. This is because there will be new connections to Districts/Partners made at these locations where this data can be ingested.
3.5 Support Equipment
3.5.1 Surge Protective Devices
The Vendor shall furnish and install Gigabit Ethernet SPDs for each new copper Ethernet cable installed by the Vendor that connects the Vendor installed network equipment to existing FDOT equipment.
Addendum 2 - Page 22
The Gigabit Ethernet SPDs shall be Eaton MTL, model ZB24596, or approved equivalent. The Vendor shall furnish and install a 19-inch DIN rail within the 19-inch equipment cabinets/racks for the SPDs to be mounted or run cabling to an existing DIN rail mounted in an adjacent or nearby cabinet or rack. The Vendor shall install the SPDs on the DIN rail. The DIN rail shall be properly grounded. The Vendor may use existing on-site DIN rails if there is adequate space available and the DIN rails are properly grounded.
