WebID is a system that prints visitor access control and other non-smartcard badges for KSC. The WebID system is hosted on a server in the KDC and interfaces with clients in the badging office via a web client interface and software installed on the clients. The peripherals (e.g., printer and cameras) are multi-use assets and are not considered part of WebID.
Forms Development
Currently, there are approximately 1,400 KSC and Government forms in hardcopy or electronic format.
The software application associated with the forms services is the COTS product Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 4 (including Workbench and Workspace).
Government approval of forms creation is currently performed through a SharePoint site. This same SharePoint site is used by the KSC Forms Manager and the contractor to share FAQs, correspondence, links to policy documents, POC information, etc.
The systems that support Voice Communications, Imaging Services, and Data Communications range from COTS products to custom designed and developed systems. They range in size and complexity from small systems to large multi-center connected systems. The customer base includes both institutional and program customers each with unique needs and priorities.
The Unified Supplemental Power System (USPS) is a shared system that meets power requirements for multiple communication systems. Systems are dependent on the USPS during facility power outages.
USPS is installed in communications rooms throughout KSC and is utilized by the systems that share the communications room footprint. The systems that currently benefit from USPS are KITS, Broadband Communications Distribution System (BCDS), Paging and Area Warning System (PAWS), Two-Way Radio, Operational Intercommunications System – MOVE (OIS-M) and equipment supporting the telephone system.
USPS provides redundant and backup power in the form of:
· -48VDC Power Services, +12VDC Power Services, 120VAC Power Services and others as required.
· Installations are sized per current requirements and future expected growth, and are categorized into: Mini, Small, Medium and Large Power Systems.
USPS depends on iKCMS and the Remote Alarm Monitoring System (RAMS) to provide out-of-band alarms to the Voice technicians located at the CD&SC tech control station, and to provide remote video to CD&SC Communications Control. RAMS is a non-IP networked alarm indicator system.
iKCMS iKCMS is a centralized Information Technology (IT) management system utilized to deliver near real-time health and status information for Imaging, Transmission, Voice, and Comm. Facilities. The system runs on virtual machines located in the Kennedy Data Center. It is operated from workstations located in the CD&SC and monitored by various users throughout KSC. To gain access to the system, users are required to obtain approval via NAMS.
iKCMS utilizes Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), agentless monitoring and management, agent-based monitoring and management, and existing IT Comm. system management tools. iKCMS acts as a “Manager of Managers” (MoM), collecting health and status information from monitored systems and initiating commands by means of the IT Comm. system’s “local” manager. Systems that are integrated into iKCMS include the NNMi servers, SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor, and WhatsUp Gold monitoring systems. Additionally, all vendor specific NMS and configuration management platforms are integrated into iKCMS.
IKCMS can monitor all DTS transmission equipment remotely to determine the performance of the networks. In addition, it can verify port usage and settings, enable ports and channel, modify bandwidth requirements, test services, assign circuits to users, and verify active services.
iKCMS monitors and/or manages the following Subsystems:
· Imaging Subsystems o Broadband Communications Distribution System (BCDS) o Image Content Management(ICM) o Enterprise Physical Access Control System (EPACS) Imaging o Operational Television (OTV) o Integrated Communication Systems Router (ICSR) o Timing and Countdown (T&CD)
· Transmissions Subsystems o Digital Video Transmission System (DVTS) o Ethernet Transmission System (ETXS) o Optical Transport Network Core 1 and Core 2 o Serial Data Telemetry System (SDTS) o Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) o T-Carrier System
· Voice Subsystems o Enhanced 911 (E911) o KSC Administrative Telephone System (KATS) Core System o Operational Intercommunication System – MOVE (OIS-M) o Paging/Area Warning System (PAWS) o Voice Recording System (VRS)
· Comm. Facilities o Physical Access (Comm. room doors and racks) o HVAC Environmental monitoring o Power monitoring
RAMS is a system to monitor sensors and alarms from multiple Voice Communications systems in the LC-39 area and the Industrial area. RAMS provides both a Graphical Unit Interface (GUI) representation of Voice Systems equipment alarms and a networked connection to share alarm state information with iKCMS. The alarm “sensors” consist of open/close contacts, either controlled by other systems, or intrinsic to the sensor itself (e.g., a thermostat). Contacts generated by systems are electrically isolated from that system (e.g., via a relay) and therefore do not effect or control the system. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and solid state relays interface to the sensor contacts via the Communications Services Wire Plant.
Voice Communications
Operational Intercommunications Systems (OIS)
OIS provides dependable voice communications to meet operational and institutional requirements at KSC and the NASA occupied facilities at the CCAFS. OIS is also connected to other NASA Centers via the NASA Integrated Services Network (NISN).
