About this file
This is an Environmental Policy exhibit document for the City of Dallas related to a Request for Bids for janitorial services. The City of Dallas has established comprehensive environmental stewardship requirements that apply to contractors providing services, including janitorial operations. The contract is structured as a sixty-month Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) service price agreement with five twelve-month pricing periods, with services ordered on an as-needed basis throughout the agreement term. The janitorial services are to be performed in accordance with the City's environmental policy, which commits to meeting or exceeding all applicable environmental laws and regulations while demonstrating continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Contractors must comply with specific green site and building exterior management standards, including the use of low environmental impact cleaning products that meet Green Seal Standard GS-37 or California Code of Regulations maximum allowable VOC levels for cleaning product categories. All cleaning and maintenance personnel must receive proper training in the use, maintenance, and disposal of chemicals and equipment. Contractors are required to document program results and submit annual reports to the facility manager that include chemical use listings, license/registration logs, safety and incident reviews, and performance summaries. Cleaning and maintenance practices must be reviewed with the contractor at least annually to ensure ongoing compliance with these environmental requirements. These specifications are intended to protect building occupants, maintenance personnel, and the environment while reducing injury risk and associated health problems.
