About this file

This Traffic Control Plan details safety and signage requirements for logging operations on Forest Service controlled roads and trails for the Tiny G-Z IRSC Stewardship contract. The document specifies seven distinct types of signs that must be used, including "Logging Operations," "Tree Felling Ahead," and "Road Machinery Ahead" signs, with precise specifications for size, placement, and visibility. Signs must meet Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards, feature black lettering on orange backgrounds, be at least 5 feet above road surface, and be retroreflective or illuminated.

The plan mandates additional safety protocols, such as using barricades when operations constrict roadways, providing flag personnel during cable or helicopter logging, and potentially installing temporary gates or barriers on specified roads. Contractors must remove or cover signs during non-operational periods and receive approval from jurisdictional authorities for traffic control measures. The signs are designed to warn road and trail users of potential hazards during logging and road maintenance activities, with specific requirements for sign placement, dimensions, and visibility to ensure public safety during forest stewardship operations.
