About this file
This document is a technical design guidelines specification for Security Electronics Conductors (Section 28 50 20) for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), dated 06-01-22. The specification provides comprehensive technical requirements for selecting, installing, and managing various types of electrical conductors used in security electronic systems, including detailed guidelines for cables used in video, door control, intercom, network, and other electronic applications.
The document specifies technical requirements for conductor types, including wire gauge, insulation, shielding, and environmental considerations. Key specifications include using copper conductors, color-coding requirements, cable jacket specifications for different environments (dry indoor, exterior, wet locations), and installation guidelines. The document includes a sample conductor schedule table with example cable types for various applications like interior/exterior video, door control, intercom stations, and network cabling, noting that actual cable selections must be based on specific system requirements. Installation instructions cover aspects such as cable pulling, termination, labeling, and testing, with an emphasis on maintaining system integrity and neat installation.
