About this file
This is a solar design attachment document prepared by Ameresco for the Utah Communications Authority ("UCA") related to the Geyser Peak Tower Construction and Equipment Shelter Installation project located near Geyser Peak in Sevier County, Utah. The document contains three detailed engineering sheets with specifications for two distinct solar panel mounting systems: a ground-mounted racking system with 65-degree tilt angle designed for 125 mph maximum wind speeds, and a ballast-based system with 55-degree tilt angle. The ground-mounted system utilizes LG 405 modules arranged in a configuration with 8 total piers (4 piers per row across 2 rows of 65 inches each), featuring 4-inch and 6-inch Schedule 40 steel pipes with hot-dip galvanized components, concrete footings with 2,500 PSI rating, and U-bolts for module rail attachment. The ballast system incorporates LG405N2T modules mounted on channels and strongbacks with rectangular concrete ties reinforced with #4 rebar, galvanized anchor bolts, and base brackets designed for the same 125 mph wind speed rating.
Both systems are engineered per IBC 2009 and ASCE 7-05 standards with Exposure C classification, accounting for Soil Type 3, undisturbed foundation soil conditions, 60 PSF maximum ground snow load, and the specified geographic location. The designs were prepared by engineer Randy C at 2615 Princeton Drive NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87107, with the ground-mounted system drawn dated September 11, 2023, and the ballast system dated August 1, 2024. The technical specifications detail component materials, dimensions, fastener requirements (including flange bolts, U-bolts, and anchor bolts), cross-bracing configurations, and mounting foot assemblies necessary for proper installation at the Geyser Peak site near the specified GPS coordinates.
