About this file

This is a Capital Outlay Budget Request document submitted by the City of Palm Bay, Florida Parks and Facilities Department for the construction and installation of a chemical storage shed at the Aquatic Center. The project involves the procurement and installation of a pre-fabricated storage shed under 120 square feet, with the addition of a forced ventilation system and electrical/lighting infrastructure. The chemical shed will be located at the Aquatic Center, 120 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, Florida 32907. The requestor, Josh Hudak (321-288-5884), identified this as a new capital asset request with no specified construction timeline, response dates, or bidder meetings noted in the document.

The total funding request for FY27 is $11,475.00, with all costs concentrated in the fiscal year 2027 and no anticipated expenses in subsequent years. Funding is requested from the General Fund with no additional sources identified. The justification for this capital improvement centers on OSHA compliance and safety upgrades, as chemicals are currently stored in an unsecured, open-air environment within the pump room. While OSHA inspection confirmed that current storage meets safety standards, the Facilities Department seeks to implement enhanced storage protocols. This project is categorized as an unfunded request requiring departmental approval and represents an operating asset intended to improve asset and safety health at the aquatic facility.

Asset Justification

Currently chemicals are stored in the pump room in an open air environment which is not to our Facilities departments standards. OSHA has inspected and says the chemicals are safely and appropriately stored as is. Facilities would like to have a chemical storage unit placed at the aquatic center for safer storage.

This estimate is for pre-made storage shed under 120 sq ft.. A forced ventilation system and electrical/lighting will need to be added. (lal)
