About this file
This document contains questions and answers from a pre-bid meeting for a federal-aid highway project. The project involves rehabilitation, restoration, and resurfacing of approximately 4.95 miles and reconstruction of approximately 1.71 miles of Taylor Mountain Road located six miles north of Vernal, Utah. Major work elements include widening the road, vertical and horizontal alignment changes, cut and fill slopes, embankment construction, deep patching, aggregate base course, asphalt paving, drainage improvements including large and deep pipes and concrete headwalls, pavement markings, signage updates, and rehabilitation or reconstruction of select parking areas and access road intersections. Significant quantities include clearing and grubbing of 41 acres, 18,000 cubic yards of embankment construction, 19,000 tons of aggregate base, 5 miles of full depth reclamation, and asphalt concrete paving. The questions and answers provide clarification on trench depths, the structural section requirements for subexcavation and deep patch bid items, and how to account for labor and equipment for traffic control devices.

1 I am not seeing what we are to do in the structural section of the
Subexcavation & Deep Patch Bid Items. It doesn’t show placing & paying for Aggregate Base and Asphalt in those items and summary sheets don’t show any quantities for these materials in those locations either.
Match the pavement structural section as shown in the typical section on sheet A6 and the quantities are paid for and included as shown in the surfacing summary on sheet B5, for the respective station range and pay items.
