3 Due to COVID restrictions, Yosemite National Park is only open to visitors with advanced reservations. Will the FHA provide the contractor with reservations so they can visit the site?
Contractor needs to provide the Company Name, visiting participants email, license plates of the visiting vehicles, and dates. An email will be sent from the Park with a guest pass.
Provide the above information to Michael Pieper, Yosemite National Park Project Manager, Michael_Pieper@nps.gov (209) 379-1263 (Office)
4 Will pipe profiles be provided for the drainage work (crossings)?
Or approximate depth of pipe for each crossing/system?
Not all of the project has mapping, so many of the pipes do not have profiles provided. All of the box culverts have an initial profile. For the pipe culverts crossing Tioga Road, or and the pipes within the parking lots, these are all relatively shallow pipe crossings with a desired minimum cover and trench depths below 5-ft. There are no deep pipe crossings.
5 Please refer to plan sheet 211-A which has details for different treatments for roadway obliteration, method 1. For each pullout shown to receive roadway obliteration, method 1, could you please specify which treatment is applicable to that pullout?
These treatments are provided as a toolbox of solutions typically addressed in the field on a site by site basis between the CO and the Contractor.
6 Please refer to the Summary of Quantities table on plan sheet B3.
Line item no. A0860 has a quantity of 56,116 LNFT and an
Line A0860 correctly displayed the quantity from the “Embankment Curb, Gutter, Sidewalk and Misc Item Summary” Tab (56,116), but the total allowance of 591 LNFT. The bid schedule total of the item, however, is 77,225 LNFT. Please clarify.
didn’t show a separate summary from the Paved Ditch Summary Tab (20,518). Together, these add up to 76,634. Add to this the allowance of 591, and we have the bid total of 77,225. The bid quantity is correct. See revised plan sheet B3 in Amendment A001.
7 We do not see a typical section for Tioga Road 1965+00 to 2130+00 in the plans. Is there one or can it be provided?
Somehow, Sheet A12 (Sheet 4 of 7) was not compiled in the bid set. Sheet A12 will be issued in Amendment A001.
8 For the bid items Seeding, Hydraulic Method, could you please specify the composition of the seed mix and the application rates?
Park will provide the seeds. They typically provide a seed spread rate of
2.25 lbs of live seed / acre.

9 Please refer to plan sheet A10. The Tioga Road Typical Section on the top of the sheet shows variable width Shoulder and Ditch Reconditioning on both sides of the road. For the stationing provided for this typical section, the total length is 39,064 lf or approximately 7.40 miles. For both sides, the total length of Shoulder and Ditch Reconditioning would be approximately 14.8 miles.
The pay quantity for bid item A0460 is 7.44 mile. Why is the quantity for this bid item not the 14.8 miles shown on the typical section?
Please refer to Sheet B12, Note 2 and Subsection 109.02 (k)
10 Please refer to plan sheet B11. For Schedule A, the only Roadway Excavation shown is at the parking areas. However, it looks like there will also be roadway excavation for various items of work associated with Tioga Road such as the pullouts, shuttle stops, curb, and sidewalk. How is the roadway excavation for these items paid?
Please refer to Subsection 304 of the FP and SCRs for work within the existing roadway and paved prisms. For unpaved areas adjacent to the roadway, per the typical sections, minor excavation and shaping is required prior to placing aggregate. No Pay. The work is incidental to the Roadway Aggregate pay items.
11 Will all Boulders required for this project be sourced on-site? Or, at a minimum, the Olmstead Pit?
All boulders required are within the project limits. Excess boulders removed will be reset at the Olmstead Pit.

12 Bid documents say water is available for the contractor’s use at
Tenaya Lake. There’s also language saying to contact Valley Utilities for metering information and costs. Does this apply to water taken from Tenaya Lake?
Metering is not required for water extracted from Tenaya Lake.
13 Previous Q&A has clarified any material needed for “Boulders” item is available to the Contractor at sources on the project. Does this apply to material needed for Rockery, Rock Buttress and Riprap as well?
No.
14 If Riprap material is to be supplied by the Contractor, are there any aesthetic requirements? I don’t see any in bid documents (other than exposed aggregate material).
See Section 105.02 (c).
15 Are there supplemental specifications for A0500 30701-0000 Cement Treated Aggregate Course? 307 in FP-14 is “Reserved” and nothing listed under this section in specials.
Response will be provided in upcoming amendment.
16 Is the asphalt material for paved ditch paid for in the asphalt item (per ton) and paved ditch item (per SY) or does the paved ditch item include the material?
See Section 609.
17 Are there specific material requirements for 30202-2100 Roadway Aggregate Method 2 Aggregate Surface Course that differentiate it from 30202-2000 (i.e., binders, additives, pugmill mixing)?
See Section 703.06.
18 Can you provide more information on how to sign up on the Interesed Vendor List?
See attached instructions.

19 Is Roadway Aggregate under the concrete improvements incidental to the concrete work per standard specifications or is it paid in the Roadway Aggregate item as shown on the Quantity Sheets? She sheet B-26, note 1.
As per plan sheet B21, note 2, Roadway Aggregate is subsidiary to Section 609 Paved Ditch, Asphalt pay items including adjacent concrete curb.
Roadway Aggregate is paid separately when used under Section 501 Minor Concrete Pavement, Section 609 Concrete Curb not adjacent to Paved Ditch, Asphalt, and Section 615 concrete. Plan sheet B26, note 1 is correct.
20 With the current and past striping throughout the park being done in Epoxy Paint (Type D ). Would the owner consider changing the Waterborne Paint (Type B Markings) for this project to conform with what is currently installed (Two-Component Paint Type D)?
Substitution of Epoxy Paint (Type D) could be submitted as a Value Engineering Change Proposal post award. No change to the requirements will be made at this time.
21 It appears you may have an error on your bid form. Items A1410 Temporary Traffic Control, Flagger and A1420 Temporary Traffic Control, Pilot Car are listed by the DAY. I believe they are meant to be by the hour. There are 5,400 DAYS listed for item A1410 which would be 14.79 years worth of flagging.
An amendment will be issued revising the pay item number and unit of measurement for pay items A1410 and A1420 from DAY to HOUR in the Bid Schedule and Summary of Quantities.
22 Can you please provide the Gauge of the Corrugated Metal Pie, Polymeric Coated for the follow Item No’s.
Schedule A Item # A0650 – 18” A0660 – 24” A0670 – 24” Arch A0680 – 36” Arch
Schedule Y Item # Y0380 – 12” Y0390 – 18”
All pipes meet the criteria of 12-inches minimum cover, 12-ft maximum cover. Use Standard 602-1, Sheet T4 of the plans and be guided appropriately.
