QUESTION #36:

Regarding your response to RFI #30, you stated Kawneer would provide the internal steel to support the

CW and the Sloped glazing. Kawneer has informed us they cannot provide this. Please clarify if the government is requiring the contractor to provide a third‐party structural engineer to design the curtain wall? Is it the intention of the government to have this portion of the project become design build?

(Section 08 44 00 – Curtain Wall and Glazed Assemblies)

In support of a design‐build, the contractor will acquire a third party engineer to assist with the design and constructability of a complete Curtain Wall and Glazing Assembly. The following will apply:

Section 08 44 00 ‐ Curtain Wall and Glazed Assemblies

Paragraph 1.2 ‐ ADD at the end of submittal SD‐05 the text “Design Analysis; G”

Paragraph 1.2 ‐ ADD at the end of submittal SD‐07 the text “Engineer Qualifications; G”

Paragraph 1.3.4.1 – ADD subparagraph “1.3.4.1.a” to read as follows:

a. Design curtain wall and its structural support framing components under direct supervision of a Professional Structural Engineer experienced in design of this work.

Paragraph 1.5 – ADD to the end of the first paragraph text to read as follows:

‐ Provide internal structural steel members for reinforcement of aluminum extrusions as required.

QUESTION #37:

Are there specific load requirements regarding this project and the above Question #1?

The following load requirements should be used by the Curtain Wall / Skylight designer for all skylight systems:

Design Loads

Wind Load:

‐ Basic Wind Speed=140

‐ Exposure Category=C

‐ Risk Category=III

Seismic Load:

‐ Sds=0.151

‐ Sd1=0.081

‐ Site Class=D

‐ Seismic Design Category=B

‐ Importance Factor=1.25

Snow Load:

‐ Ground Snow Load=20 psf

‐ Exposure Category=C

‐ Importance Factor=1.1

QUESTION #38:

SOW – Section C.1 para “i” – Vestibule Additions – Line item #17 states all work pertaining to the

Vestibule additions must be received as a separate line item. Please advise if the bid sheet will be revised to reflect this requirement?

Amendment 005 updates section B.1 PRICES/COSTS and provides an additional breakdown of the base bid to allow for the offer amount of the Vestibule Additions.
