About this file

This document is a Business Request for GRAMA (Government Records Access and Management Act) Business Confidentiality Claim form issued by Salt Lake City Corporation's Purchasing & Contracts Management Division. The form is designed for contractors or private providers to identify and protect confidential business records or information under Utah Code § 63G-2-305, which allows protection of trade secrets and commercial financial information that could potentially result in unfair competitive injury if disclosed.

The form provides a structured template for businesses to submit a confidentiality claim, including sections for claimant information, details about the confidentiality claim, and a space to specify which specific pages, paragraphs, and reasons warrant confidential treatment. The document notes that making a confidentiality claim does not guarantee protected classification if the government receives a records request, and it requires the claimant to provide a concise statement supporting the confidentiality claim. The form includes options to indicate whether a public (redacted) copy of the records is being provided, with the default selection being "no".

Business Request for GRAMA Business Confidentiality Claim For use by contractors or private providers to identify protected records or information

Note: Utah Code § 63G-2-305(1) states that trade secrets can be protected if the person submitting the trade secret provides the governmental entity with a confidentiality claim. Likewise, Utah Code § 63G-2-305(2) states that commercial financial information can be protected if disclosure could reasonably be expected to result in unfair competitive injury to the person submitting the information, and that person has provided a confidentiality claim. Confidentiality claims are described in Utah Code § 63G-2-309. A claim must include a concise statement of reasons supporting the claim and must be submitted with the information requested to be protected.
