About this file

This is a Bid Bond Form for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners in Florida, establishing the surety requirements for contractors bidding on the 6445 Powers Ferry Road Drainage Maintenance and Improvement Project. The form functions as a standard bid guarantee mechanism, requiring the principal contractor and an approved surety to jointly and severally bind themselves to ensure the principal either enters into a contract with the county upon bid acceptance or compensates the county for the difference between the bid amount and any higher cost incurred by the county to engage another contractor. The form requires completion of standard information including the contractor's name and address, surety company details and bond amount, project bid number and title, and execution by authorized representatives of both the principal and surety with witness signatures. The project involves drainage infrastructure work at the specified location, including headwall replacement and rehabilitation, pipe restoration using trenchless pipelining techniques, and associated dewatering and bypass pumping operations as detailed in permit plans by Neelu Inc. under City Permit CITY-25-32.

The bid bond serves as a performance guarantee mechanism and must be submitted as part of the bidding process, with the form providing an option for contractors to substitute a cashier's check in lieu of a formal bid bond. The county will retain payment from a minimum of the top three ranked firms until contract execution and county approval, after which firms must arrange pickup of bond checks or provide courier information for return of the security. Contractors requesting standard USPS delivery of bid bonds must submit written requests via email or fax, with the county disclaiming liability for lost or misdirected mail. The bond is executed with a specified penalty amount corresponding to the bid amount and remains in full force until the contract is executed and all required performance bonds are provided by the selected contractor.
