Demolition GPP questions received 2/18

1. Is there a specific route for trucks that will need to be followed to get to either site? Lowboys, dumpster, dump truck.

Please refer to the cover sheet of the drawing set. Wilson St entrance is the recommended construction traffic entrance.

2. Is there an onsite location for any spoils? If so approximately where?

There’s a large spoils pile south on Kautz Rd.

3. Are basement foundation walls and floors to be left in place and filled or is the intent to completely remove all of this and fill.

Please refer to the specification 024200, 3.05A “The Subcontractor shall demolish and remove completely all buildings, structures, hardstands, paved areas adjacent thereto, vaults, sheds, fences, steps, foundations, and retaining walls to a depth of eighteen (18”) inches below grade.”

1. As far as the fill is concerned what material should we figure on using? Typically material at Fermi is maintained onsite, therefore would have stockpiles available.

For the fill, put ~6” of topsoil suitable for grass on top of the fill from the on-site spoils pile. For the on-site spoils pile, refer to Question 2.

4. At building 55 the door to the garage. Is the intent to completely remove the enclosed walkway from the house or leave some of it intact for weather proofing.

Please see the attached photos for the existing condition from the garage side. Please leave the enclosed walkway and make the demolished end weather tight.

5. As far as gas line cut/caps and reroutes can you please let us know if this is a peoples gas/nicor service or if this is a private service maintained solely by Fermilab?

FFDG owns and maintains the gas lines onsite. Nicor is the lab’s supplier, but their ownership only extends as far as their meter assemblies on the 2 feeds into the site.

6. As far as power source disconnects and reroutes can you please let us know if this is from a public service provider, or if this is a private service maintained solely by Fermilab?

FFDG owns and maintains all of the power lines.

7. Please confirm no wells are to be filled.

No wells are to be filled.

8. Please confirm if permits are required – if so, what permits and who is responsible for obtaining?

Please refer to the specification 013100, Part 8, including excavation permits that the subcontractor will request and FFDG will perform. No other permits are expected for this work.

9. Please confirm that any and all environmental concerns (asbestos, lead, etc.) will be remediated prior to this contract's scope.

Asbestos abatement will be executed prior to the start of the contract scope.

10. Is there an estimated schedule for the when the work is expected to begin? Rough timeline on NTP following the bid?

Please refer to the specification 010010, 3.2 for construction schedule. FFDG expects to make an award as soon as possible once proposals are received. Estimated award timeline would be 3-5 weeks to allow for proposal evaluation, discussion, Procurement reviews, etc.

2/19

11. What is the due date of proposal confirming since the Site meeting date was changed ? February 27, 2026 at 3:00 pm CST.

12. Will there be an asbestos report & all asbestos removed prior to Demolition or is it in our scope or work ?

FFDG will provide the reports upon request. Please also see Question 9. It is not in the contract scope.

13. During the course of the job there will be several different trucking companies removing materials and brining in new materials for backfill. It will be the same company but different drivers how difficult will it be for them to get access through the Security Gates.

Please refer to the following website; Site access – Global Services The subcontractor delivering supplies is granted access at the gate if they have a bill of lading or delivery location information.
