1. 5/24/2023 There does not appear to be a glass makeup provided. Notes on AE501 refer to the glass legend on AE601 however the legend does not match the glass type labels on AE501. Glass specs do not detail what GL1 and GL2 are. Can you provide the glass makeups or at least a description?
On AE501 there are references to GL-1 on elevations 13 and 14.
On elevation 13 the glazing type shall be MG-1 Clear Fully tempered flat glass. This is an interior storefront wall.
On elevation 14 the glazing type shall be IL-1 Low-E coated insulating laminated glass. This is an exterior store front.
This should align with the specifications and the Glazing Legends. Also, the contractor will need to provide an aluminum storefront for the appropriate glazing thicknesses.

1. 4/26/2023 Is there any way we could possibly get larger sizes?
…hard to read and scale and that small size
AE has provided updated pdf drawings divided into 20MB files.
2. 4/26/2023 5/8/2023 I don’t know if a formal request has to be made for an RFI, but I brought up at the pre-bid today that the prevailing wage material information that they have issued for the project is totally out of date. It is from May 1, 2020 and is therefore 3 years behind. The wages change again next Monday for Carpenters and Laborers and the painting wages will change Sept. 1st, 2023. Their wages have already been negotiated and are a part of their existing contracts.
Updated Wage Rates have been updated and posted via IFB-Amendment to SAM.gov
3. 5/1/2023 The Specs require 2 Remote Annunciators (GRS10H) to be located in Telephone/PBX Operator Room and Police Control/Operations Room. I believe we will need fiber cable from the new Green Homes to the main hospital building because both of these rooms will be in the main hospital building and we cannot use the hospital network.
Will there be dark (unused/spare) fiber cables that we can use?
If NO, will there be an accessible fiber path for our certified installer to supply and install fiber cable from the 2 new Green Homes to the main hospital?
Install per Contract Documents.

7. 5/3/2023 The RFP drawings downloaded from SAM are not full-scale drawings but rather 8.5" x 11" letter-size copies of the full-scale drawings. Our trade partners are telling us they can not print the drawings at the printers from letter size to drawing size with scaling accuracy to do an accurate takeoff. They are requesting full size drawing PDFs. Printers are telling us that scaling up from 8.5"x11" to drawing sizs will not produce accurate drawings for takeoff and survey. Can you provide full-scale drawings by amendment?
AE has provided updated pdf drawings divided into 20MB files.
8. 5/3/2023 Since we do not have full-scale drawings that all our trade contractors and vendors can do the scope of work quantity survey and takeoff, will the VA provide an extended time on bid date after drawings received by amendment?
Extended to June 8, 2023

36. 5/3/2023 Drawing SB101 is foundation plan. There is only one
(1) foundation plan shown on the structural drawings. However; there are two
(2) buildings stated in the RFP narrative. (Building 7 & 8). The drawing does not state or note that this drawing SB101 applies to two
(2) buildings. It is possible that subcontractors and/or vendors could miss this important fact;
visually seeing one building on drawings without noting/highlighting there are two
(2) foundation plans and they both use this plan.
This applies to architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler, and electrical drawings. Will you confirm in this bidding cycle with an amendment stating the fact that the designer of record uses one
(1) layout for two (2) buildings?
The foundation plan is for two buildings.
They are the same footprint and are sited on the site drawings.
37. 5/3/2023 Notes 1 and 2 on roof truss indicate differences in truss types. "C#" indicates. "T#" refers to drawings SF202 & SF203. SF202 shows truss-type numbers; however, there is no indication of the truss makeup. There are no notes telling what trusses are made of. Just trusses with dimensions. Can you provide an amendment providing the makeup and type of these "T#" numbered trusses?
Trusses with the “T” indicator shall be cold-form steel trusses and meet the criteria set forth in the general notes sheet (SI002).
Truss with the “C” indicator are architecturally exposed wood trusses at the main entrances.

38. 5/3/2023 Truss types C1 to C3 have notes about top, bottom, and web members with what appears to be the size of wood. The wood sizes seem to be a little large for wood trusses. Can you provide by amendment written confirmation to make up and intent on the wood truss makeup and size? Can the sizes be smaller from the wood trusses manufacturers and still meet design intent?
Trusses with the “C” indicator are architecturally exposed wood trusses at the main entrances. Truss designer may submit recommended sizes for review from A/E
39. 5/3/2023 The RFP requires that all trusses must be engineered and stamped by the manufacturers engineer and meeting the design intent on the RFP drawings. However, there dosen't seem to be information relating to roof loading needed to provide truss bids, unless this is the Floor Load Schedule on SI003. Is this table called FLoor Load Schedule showing the roof load requiriments for truss design?
All trusses shall meet the loading requirements in the “Floor load schedule” and load map shown on SI003 as well as the components and cladding wind loading shown on SF103
40. 5/3/2023 The roof truss plan does not show the spacing requirements needed for trusses. Ie. OC (On center) spacing between each truss. Can you provide the OC spacing of trusses?
Maximum OC spacing shall be 4’-0” per typical plan note on 1/SF102

41. 5/3/2023 Note 5 on SF102 shows a dark dashed line requiring a drafstop. However, either because the drawings are 8.5" x 11" copies of fullsize drawings or the line weight appear all the same for each line, We can not determine where the draftstop lines are on this drawing. There are several line types but not note 5 line type. Can you provide a way for a contractor to see visually the draftstop?
either color or some other notation by amendment?
A/E will coordinate with VA to provide.
Draftstop locations are also provided on architectural roof plans and are more easily identifiable.
42. 5/3/2023 Bid Alternate 4 removes the clearstory from the roof profile affecting trusses. The roof truss drawings do not show how this new roof looks with alternate 4. It's difficult for the contractor to determine how this works. There are notes but no visual illustration. T6 & T7 versus T13 apparently have a different orientation.
How many T13 Trusses? Where do they go in the column line layout? The truss plan alternate is not provided to relate to drawing AE107 Alternate 4. In order for the contractor to provide accurate pricing from vendors and subs, will you provide an Alternate 4 Roof truss plan by amendment to answer these questions?
Per note 3 on SF102 T6 and T7 will be removed. Each line of T6 and T7 will be replaced with (1) T13 (5 total).
