Communications faceplates shall be stainless steel.

Alternate manufacturer will be approved on an as equal basis
4. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Is there a color schedule for the communications cabling and jacks for this campus? (example: green-data, white-voice, orange-WAP, yellow-camera)?
Contractor to coordinate colors with VA and A/E during submittal process.
5. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Please provide the locations of the existing Johnson Controls equipment that the new TR (telecom room) cameras need to be cabled to.

8. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Does the contractor need to provide Cat6A patch cords for the workstation side, patch panel side or both for each new run?
Contractor shall supply patch cords for both workstation outlet location and patch panel locations. Contractor to supply (2) patch cords for each horizontal cabling connection with a total quantity of 50% of the project total horizontal connections.
9. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Please provide a copy of the ‘VA infrastructure standard for telecommunications spaces’ referred to in the specifications.

EMT is not Rigid Steel Conduit. EMT may be used in any interior stub ups but shall not be used
36. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Are all data drops in conduit to a cable tray or are some free air?
Contractor may route cabling in free air when in accessible ceiling. Conduit shall be provided in any areas where there is hardlid or subject to damage.
37. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Are we able to reuse the existing cable tray?
Contractor may re-use existing cable tray so long as there will be no interruption of telecommunications during installation of new cabling or demolition of existing cabling.
38. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Is the new fiber to be in conduit or can it be installed in existing cable tray?
New fiber must be installed in innerduct and innerduct may be routed in existing cable tray.

2/90 Sign Systems is basis of design. Contractor to provide approved equal manufacturer that serves Fort Meade area. Signage is to match detail as shown in page 101400-5 of specifications.
53. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Concrete—Does concrete in spec have to be light weight?
No concrete does not have to be light weight.
54. 1-09-23 2-03-23 HVAC—Lead times on ceiling mounts are 40+ weeks.
145-CRAC-1,2, and 3 indoor units are 53 weeks. Pumps and condensers lead times are 47 weeks. Does the VA intend to issue an admin NTP to procure materials with these long lead times?
VA to provide final response. Typically, no specific NTP is provided for product procurement, however the initial phase of construction is the submittal phase. We would recommend is that the CRAC units be among the first submittals provided for A/E review & approval to get those products reviewed, approved, & purchased to lock their place in the manufacturer’s queue.
55. 1-09-23 2-03-23 Electric Key Switch-- Per Sheet EK-014, detail #1, please explain the intent behind the ‘electric key switch’ to be mounted on the inside of the door.
Purpose is to lock out power from power to exit device.

These are to be extended from existing if sufficient spares are available.
If new are required they would be located in the TR spaces.

-The Spec does not allow for CPVC to be used.

Patch panel count is governed by patch panels shown on patch panel sheets. Provide (1) channel rack with two vertical wire managers.

No schedule is currently available. All abandoned existing cabling shall be removed from existing duct bank.

All existing copper and fiber cables being replaced need to be demolished. Contractor to field verify with VA for any fiber optic cabling to remain.

There are no constantly hot lights within this space. EM fixtures shall be provided with emergency ballast at the following locations.
Total of (6) type A fixtures. (1) each at the plan NW, NE and SE corner for a total of (3). North type A fixture in-between Row Q and Row K.
Type A fixture adjacent flag note 2 at ramp. Type A fixture at west most entrance to Data Center.
All type A fixtures west of row H are to be circuited to switch a and all other fixtures form Row H east shall be on switch b.

1. Sheets CG100 and 145-AD-201 show the MCR concrete and screen wall north of Building 145.
However, Sheet 145-SF100 and 145-AE-301 display the MCR concrete and screen wall to the east of building
145. Please confirm the location of the MCR concrete and screen wall and update the sheets accordingly.
MCR’s utility yard is to be located at east of the building as indicated in 145-AE-201 and 145-AE- 301; contractor is to familiarize himself with the location noted in above sheets and bid accordingly. Clarification of drawings will be accommodated after contract award.

1. Are we to base the costs for the hazardous material removal on the quantities provided in the Hazardous Material report by AET? What if it is determined the quantities are more or less?
Provide base bid cost as per quantities noted on drawings.
If actual quantities needing abatement varies, notify the COR as these will be addressed on a case by case basis.
142. 1/25/23 2-03-23 Drawing EK-002 says the UPS must be N+1 redundant, since only 1 feed to the UPS system is shown (multiple feeders are required for multi-module systems) advise what capacity is required with or without redundancy.
Examples – a 200kva 480V system would have (4) 50KVA power modules, and failure of any single module would reduce capacity by 50kva until repaired. A 100kva 208V system would have (5) 20kva power modules, failure of any single module would reduce the capacity by 20kva until repaired.
Disregard the reference to the paralleling cabinet and N+1 configuration. Provide single UPS as specified as indicated on drawing EK-002.
143. 1/25/23 2-03-23 Drawing EK-002 states there is a paralleling cabinet input in the UPS footnotes. We only see a single input UPS configuration the in the drawing. No paralleling cabinet from what we can see.

144. 1/25/23 2-03-23 Drawings of the busway have conflicts between 145-EP- 100 and 145-EP-012, please have the customer specify the number of tap-off boxes and the ampacities of the busbar needed for this design. If we’re going just off drawing 145-EP-012, and considering (2) total tap-off boxes to each rack shown. We’re counting a total of (40) tap-off boxes are needed for all the busway runs. Please advise.
All (6) Busways shall be 225A.
Base your count at 40 for the tap-off boxes.
Circuit breakers trip rating for busways are as follows:
