About this file

This is a Q&A document containing 42 questions and answers related to VA solicitation 36C26125R0014 for replacing an inpatient pharmacy robot at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The document clarifies requirements for the replacement of an existing Rx APSII Robot with a new Omnicell Model XR-2 Robot, including site preparation and modifications.

Key clarifications include: Omnicell will remove the existing robot and anchors; the existing air compressor is compatible with the new robot; no sound attenuation is required for temporary walls; work areas will be vacated during construction but adjacent pharmacy areas will remain operational; contractors must provide their own restrooms; structural calculations will be provided upon award; plenum-rated cable is acceptable for CAT6a cables; Level IV ICRA requirements with anteroom are mandatory; and the VA will remove all furniture and equipment from the work area prior to construction. The Q&A also confirms that despite the small project size, the technical proposal requirement will remain due to the high level of coordination needed between Pharmacy, Equipment Manufacturer and Construction Contractor.

1. Please verify that Omni will be removing all old equipment including any anchors and accessories that may be imbedded or through bolted for the existing equipment.

VA: Omnicell will remove the existing robot and associated equipment and all existing anchors.

1. Confirm existing air compressor is compatible with new Robot and will be reused.

VA: The existing air compressor meets the Omnicell XR2 requirements.

1. On the Stark Walls: can you confirm if they want sound attenuation or not. Both LiteBarrier and RealWall meet the requirements for ICRA in the plan. Just need them to confirm if they want sound attenuation or not.

VA: No sound attenuation is required.

1. Can the VA please provide the pre-job sign in sheet?

Yes.

1. Can the VA please confirm that the area plus the area below the new ROBOT will be vacated during construction?

VA: The work area per the SOW and Enclosures will be vacated around the robot location. Remaining area in the office will be operational, occupied, and used by VA staff. Area below the robot is the basement and is not occupied in an ongoing manner. However, access will need to be requested for both the Pharmacy area on the first floor and the basement area below the pharmacy/robot prior to performing the work each day, as was stated during the pre-bid site visit.
