The VA is requesting construction services in Building 86, the Canteen Dishwashing Room to have utilities upgraded to fix long standing deficiencies by correcting the following identified issues:
1. Remove existing garbage disposal and provide new garbage disposal of model with equal size, horsepower, capacity, and installation. Install per manufacturers written instructions. Include new vacuum breaker, isolation valves above the floor, new isolation valves in crawlspace at main, and waste piping full size to existing 4” main in crawlspace (approx. 40 lineal feet). Water piping shall be sized per garbage disposal manufacturers written instructions. Provide new 3/4” solenoid valve on water flush tied into disposal switch, and ball valve to regulate flow. Minimum size HW and CW piping shall be ¾” unless manufacturers written instructions call for larger size.
2. Demolish existing plumbing below the rinse sink and trough spray off area. Replace all water lines back to main with ¾” type “L” copper minimum and provide isolation valves above floor and isolation valves below the floor at main for all new HW, CW, and HWC water piping for sink, water spray, and trough. Provide new full size waste lines to main in crawlspace for sink, water spray, and trough.
3. Provide 3/4” hot water recirculation line from new HW line serving the dishwasher and extend it to the nearest operational recirculation line. Approximately 40 feet. Connect with isolation valve at existing recirculation line.
4. Provide new HW line from dishwasher to 134-degree minimum HW at domestic water heater upstream of existing mixing valve. Approximately 100 feet.
5. Provide new wall hung stainless steel 17”x14” hand sink with wall deck mounted faucet with lever handles approved equal to Sani-LAV model 705F.5, ½” HW, ½” CW, and 2” waste lines to main lines below floor. Core drill floor where reinforcing web is not present. Provide escutcheons for floor penetrations. Provide isolation/shut off valves above floor, and water isolation valves at main in crawlspace.
6. Replace existing 6” round floor drain with stainless steel 8”x8”x6” floor sink with full grate with top frame and semi-dome strainer approved equal to Zurn model Z1910. Saw cut and remove tile as required. Remove 6” slab as required. Provide #4 rebar 2” into existing slab on all four sides of sink. Rebar shall protrude into sink slab opening a minimum of 1” to hold new concrete in place. Form bottom of installation and set sink in concrete. Waste line shall be 2” size to existing main in crawlspace.
7. Replace wall exhaust grilles with flush mounted stainless steel wall grilles approved equal to Krueger model 980H.
8. New water lines shall be type “L” hard drawn copper. Pressed fittings are not allowed.
9. All water line connections to main lines affected by this project shall have isolation valves full size of line.
10. Insulate water lines with 1” fiberglass with ASJ and PVC fitting covers. Use PVC cover above slab sealed water light.
11. New waste lines shall be cast iron with no-hub couplings with stainless steel clamps and cover.
12. Field verify piping sizes and dimensions during site visit prior to providing bid.
13. For the purposes of this project “Provide” means to furnish and install for a complete working system.
