About this file

This document outlines the phasing plan and scope of work for renovating isolation rooms at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center. The project will update two existing isolation rooms, create a third isolation room, and involves demolishing and constructing walls, installing new doors, flooring, fixtures and equipment. Work will be phased to minimize disruption to the medical center's operations, with Phases 1 and 2 potentially concurrent and focusing on PACU-4 and ICU-1 areas, while Phase 3 for ICU-3 will follow completion of earlier phases. The contractor must submit infection control and scheduling plans for approval and coordinate all outages and shutdowns at least 20 days in advance. The opportunity is a SDVOSB set-aside between $500,000 to $1,000,000 requiring beds from Handicare, to be awarded under solicitation 36C25921R0070 by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the Cheyenne VAMC. The contractor will be responsible for assessing drawings and specifications, submitting RFIs, following security and safety requirements, and meeting all specifications, drawings, codes and deadlines.

Additional work and/or additional phasing considerations are shown in red.

Phases 1 and 2 (renovating the PACU-4 and ICU-1 areas) may occur at the same time.

Work in corridors will be phased to only impact one section of the hallway at a time and proper access will be maintained to surrounding rooms.

Work down the corridor indicated by dashed line with "MECH WORK O.H." in phase 1A will likely need to occur in a HEPA filtered containment cart to avoid blocking access to the nurse's station or any of the rooms on the east side of the hallway.

Maintain a minimum of 48” or half of the corridor width where ICRAs barriers are constructed in corridors to allow egress and access to adjacent spaces. Where the scope does not allow for half the corridor to remain open, a detour and ILSM will need to be closely coordinated with government. The use of HEPA filtered containment carts will also be permitted as scope allows.

Phase 3 (ICU-3 area) will not occur until work from Phase 1 and 2 and penthouse mechanical work is complete to a point that shutdown of ICU-3 will be limited to two months.

Reference Sheet PP112 for Medical Gas piping modifications.

Medical has piping modifications for ICU-1 may be completed during week days with close coordination with the VA.

Medical gas piping modifications to relocate the med gas zone shutoff valve in Nurse Station B2-55 shall be exclusively night and weekend work.

Domestic water connections can likely be coordinated on a week day before or after normal business hours of 8am-4:30pm.

Reference specification section 01 57 19 1.5, F for additional detail on noise control. Noise-producing work shall occur between 8am and 6pm, unless otherwise directed. Repetitive, high level impact noise, and noise that will transfer through the structure will be restricted to weekends so not to impact surrounding departments such as Surgery and PACU.

Demolish Temporary Ante Room

Temporary walls in area of work for COVID negative pressure wards are shown in blue.

Temporary wall with door for emergency egress will be required in this location during Phase 3. Note: Not all temporary walls for infection control barriers are shown on this plan, contractor shall include all proposed infection control barriers on their final phasing plans.
