About this file

This is a Questions and Responses document containing 43 clarifications regarding solicitation 36C25526R0167 for the renovation of the Ambassador Suite and Main Lobby in Building 1 at a Department of Veterans Affairs facility. The project includes specific hazardous material abatement, temporary occupancy provisions, and building system modifications.

Key project requirements include asbestos abatement of approximately 300 square feet of gray/black backing associated with tan speckled linoleum containing 2% chrysotile in corridors H118 and H119, and 65 linear feet of white pipe insulation containing 60% chrysotile in pharmacy waiting room B102; no lead abatement is required. The contractor must provide a quality control manager with at least five years' experience and three similar projects, a site safety and health officer (which may be fulfilled by the superintendent), and a commissioning agent. The project requires construction of a code-compliant concrete pad with scaffold-like structure and overhead cover for temporary ADA access, aluminum temporary doors with VA-supplied cylinder locksets, and installation of sound-absorbing wall panels and interior signage. The contract specifies a 330-day performance period, electronically delivered bonds, and work scheduling coordinated with VA operations to maintain OSHA-compliant noise levels during standard duty hours with potential night or weekend work if needed. The contractor must verify all existing condition drawings, coordinate with infection prevention for debris removal protocols, and integrate building management systems and access control work with existing Automated Logic and Software House systems through the VA contracting officer's representative.
