About this file
This document is a Door Hardware specification (Section 08 71 00) for the Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center's Facilities Maintenance Upgrades project, providing comprehensive technical requirements for door hardware installation. The specification covers detailed requirements for various hardware components, including hinges, continuous hinges, door closers, overhead stops, locks, electric strikes, armor plates, kick plates, flush bolts, door pulls, and thresholds, with specific guidelines for material finishes, installation heights, and compliance with accessibility and fire safety standards.
The document includes 14 detailed hardware sets specifying exact product types, manufacturers, and configurations for different door applications, such as fire-rated doors, office entries, and automatic operator doors. Key technical requirements include using BEST Great Grand Master Key System for cylinders, requiring anti-microbial coatings on hand-operated hardware, ensuring compliance with ABAAS accessibility standards, and specifying warranties ranging from 2 to 10 years depending on the hardware component. Manufacturers listed as basis of design include McKinney, Rixson, Rockwood, SARGENT, HES, Norton, Besam, and Securitron, with specific model numbers provided for each hardware set.
